With the ET100 and ET200, people are concerned about the “accuracy" of the units. Several users have put the tester on 240V, and both the 240V and 277V LED's are lighting. This is the expected result, as these units were designed to allow for a large variance in the voltage they are measuring. Like many other competitive testers in this category, the LED on the unit will light within 80% to 100% of the indicated voltage. Since 240V is within 80% of 277V, it will light both the 240V, and 277V, LED's on the unit.
The ET100 and ET200 Voltage Testers are Go/NoGo testers, intended to be a safer alternative to Solenoid testers. Like Solenoid testers, they are used to indicate the presence of voltage with a low impedance load, and the indicators will light within 80% to 100% of the indicated values. Since 80% of 277V can be as low as 222V, measuring 240V can light both the 240V and 277V LED’s on the tester. This is normal for the tester, and the unit is functioning as designed.
